4senegal-louga-match-young-boy-with-ballTackleAfrica have a unique relationship with our supporters, and the vast majority of our funding comes from individuals who donate their time, energy and funds to helping us in our fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa. As a small, dynamic and energetic charity with an international reach, we are always keen to build relationships with our supporters that go above and beyond the funds they raise to support our work. In the past, people who have raised funds for TackleAfrica have gone on to visit projects in Africa, qualify as TackleAfrica HIV/AIDS football coaches, give presentations on our work to other aid organisations and even become trustees!

We’re delighted to announce that a record 52 teams will take part in this year’s marathon on 7th August on Clapham Common, meaning that with a lot of enthusiasm and hard work we might just beat last year’s sponsorship total of £120,000!

Neil Peters Neil Peters has been supporting TackleAfrica for nearly 5 years. In his day job Neil works for an engineering company but in his spare time he has…

  • Captained our most successful fundraising Football Marathon team for 5 years, raising over £20,000
  • Used his engineering skills to help design the plans for our building project in Uganda
  • Been secretary of the Football Marathon organising committee, an event that this year raised £120,000
  • Organised a fundraising event at his old school
  • Arranged for his employer, Mott McDonald, to sponsor our first ever manual, helping to cover printing costs for the first 1,000 copies
  • Trained as a TackleAfrica coach and been on projects in Uganda and Zambia, helping us reach hundreds of young people
