Norman Cook a.k.a Fatboy Slim
It all began in 2006 when Norman agreed to be Coaching for Hope’s patron. His record company Skint had long been sponsors of Brighton and Hove Albion, one of the football clubs that has supported Coaching for Hope from the start. When the Chairman of the club asked Norman to be our patron, he didn’t have to think twice.
In September 2006, Norman travelled to Mali in West Africa to take part in our coaching school. His visit was covered by the Sunday Mirror and in his interview with them he said, “Coming here has been a life-changing experience. To see so many young children with no parents is something I will never forget”
Norman’s personal response to his visit was to start a collection of trainers and football boots to send to Africa. This was so successful it took over most of his garage and a large part of his hallway and eventually 3,000 pairs of trainers were sent out to Africa where they will be put to good use by dozens of youth teams
