The first ever Jersey Football Marathon took place on 28th July at Les Quennevais Sport Centre.

Here’s a few highlights:

• 291 goals were scored in 48 games, at an impressive average of just over 6 goals per game
• Winners and top fundraisers Real Invalid only dropped 2 points all day on their march to the title
• Gateau Superstars top scored with 63 goals, with Real Invalid boasting the best defence, conceding a miserly 15
• The biggest margin of victory was racked up by Gateau Superstars, beating the inaptly named Bayern Neverloosin 10-0
• Sam’s Team and Hardly Athletic contested the highest scoring game of the day, with Hardly edging the 11 goal thriller 7-4

The event looks to have raised close to £7,000 so far – a fantastic contribution to TackleAfrica’s work delivering HIV education through football coaching across Africa.   A big thank you to local organiser John Gamble for his hard work in pulling the event together, and to all the players, volunteers and team captains.
