Kamwokya Christian Caring Community (KCCC) are TackleAfrica’s longest standing project partner, hosting the first coaching project in January 2007. It operates in and around Kamwokya, an urban area of high poverty in the Kampala district with a range of faith and community-based services using a wide network of volunteer community supporters including health workers and youth and peer ‘promoters’.
TackleAfrica have been working with KCCC’s ‘All star football academy’ and Treasure Life Centre youth programmes to run HIV education through football coaching programmes for football coaches and youth educators from both KCCC and other organisations since 2007. TackleAfrica recently funded the purchase of a plot of land in Semuto, a rural village with about 10,000 inhabitants which KCCC will use to run outreach programmes involving football and HIV education.
