The International Medical Foundation (IMF) was started in 2004 by the current Chairman of the International Medical Group as a response to a gap in secondary and tertiary health care for the poor and vulnerable in Kampala city. The first intervention of IMF was therefore the development and running of Hope ward with IHK. Thereafter IMF developed a number of primary health care and community health projects funded by both individuals and institutional donors, the main interventions in these projects were in HIV & AIDS; Tuberculosis and Reproductive health and these interventions were scattered geographically throughout Uganda. From 2004 to 2011 IMF was one of the core members of IMG.
