COVID19 update

To all our participants and supporters around the world at this challenging time, we hope you are staying safe and healthy.

The most important thing right now with our programming is the safety of our beneficiaries, coaches, players, staff and everyone involved, even indirectly, in what we do. We are therefore all observing the World Health Organisation’s recommendations of physical distancing, quarantine and isolation as necessary, and regular, thorough hand-washing or hand sanitising as often as we can. We know this isn’t easy for everyone but we’re optimistic the situation will improve if everyone plays their part to the best of their capability. If we follow the national and international guidelines, we’ll “flatten the curve” of the virus and we’ll be able to resume our programmes more quickly. At time of writing, while numbers remain relatively low in Africa compared to Europe and Asia, we’re heartened by the strict measures African governments have already taken to contain the virus as much as possible.

We know a little bit about what it takes to work towards beating a virus and we urge you to join us in the same way we need for HIV and STIs:

  • follow verified medical advice
  • change your behaviour where needed, eg social distance/quarantine/isolation, wash hands, avoid touching face
  • please don’t spread myths and unverified information about COVID19.

For factual, up-to-date information, we recommend you follow the World Health Organisation’s briefings: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019

Our staff are now remotely working, and we’re actively supporting them. We are in regular contact with all our partners and donors and will support as much as we can.

If you have any questions, please contact or your individual programme managers and project staff.

Stay safe, and we’ll get through this together.

With best wishes,

Everyone at TackleAfrica

Today marks the World Day of Social Justice🧑‍⚖️ Our projects have taken on various social issues and are carried out by a particularly diverse workforce that we are extremely proud of ✊ #LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 #BLM 🖤 #WomenEmpowerment ♀️ #DisabilityAwareness ♿️ pic.twitter.com/Dttc…

Amid COVID-19, coaches of our 'Levelling the Field' project - educating young women and girls in Malawi - were forced to stop group sessions⚽️ We took to the airwaves, with our partner @yonecofm, to continue giving out SRHR/HIV information ℹ️ #InternationalDayofRadio📻 pic.twitter.com/UToa…
