Happy International Women’s Day! This year’s theme is Balance For Better, highlighting the need to create a more gender-balanced world. When rights and opportunities are equally distributed between us all, the world is a better place. Join us today, and all days, in striving for a more balanced world.
There are so many incredible men and women on our projects across Africa all working towards this goal. Today we bring a little update from just one of them in Kilifi, Kenya. 30 female “Young Leaders” from our partner, Moving The Goalposts are participating in training run by Manchester City Foundation, learning about leadership skills and how to use football for social good. This training is the launch of our #CityzensGiving project, which will run for three years reaching thousands of young women with Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information and services, through football. When women and girls have access to SRHR services, they can take more control over their reproductive health, and plan for their own futures whether that means having a family, continuing education or finding employment.
Thank you to all our players, coaches, supporters, donors, football marathoners, staff and partners for their tireless efforts working towards a better, more balanced world for all. Check out how you can get involved, visit https://www.tackleafrica.org/get-involved
And in case you were wondering, International Men’s Day is November 19th and we’ll be celebrating that when it comes around.
