These days, you’re much more likely to find women on a football pitch – but women are more likely to contract HIV too
In the countries we work, the reality is that more women are affected by HIV than men. It is therefore crucial that women are involved in the fight against HIV, and why they’re an essential part of the TackleAfrica story.
“Being involved with TackleAfrica has been very good,” Leonidah says. It’s helped her to acquire new coaching skills and HIV knowledge, as well as equipment. It’s also affected her players because “they enjoy the drills, and the under 12’s can lead some of the drills themselves… players test (for HIV) because of the drills and they didn’t before.”
Leonidah is now one of our most active coaches, volunteering on all the Nairobi projects we run. Women like Leonidah are the future of TackleAfrica, and an essential part of the fight against HIV. Thank you Leonidah!
